Just one month to go before the end of this year, which has been one of the most challenging ever for local businesses, shops and commerce.
Sadly, we have had the announcement of the closure of BAE Systems (or British Aerospace as we all know it better) with the inevitable job losses. I am obviously disappointed by this, but I hope we can all at least support the campaign for one last air show to celebrate the many achievements at Woodford over the years.
As Councillors, I assure you we will listen to all sides. Future plans for the site must be primarily to the benefit of the local residents and community.
I am delighted to report on how Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme Business Partnerships are progressing and fighting back against the economic downturn. Cheadle Hulme has seen much improved car parking, the improvement to
Mellor Road and Warren Road will be targeted for improvements in the New Year, so Cheadle Hulme residents can look forward to seeing further good news soon.
Bramhall has undergone some major transformation this year. The successes of the "Light Up Bramhall at Christmas" last year and a fantastic Bramhall Festival Weekend in June brought in much new business, seeing local shops and eateries benefitting. Next week, on Saturday 5th December, there will be another "Christmas Lights Switch On". Bramhall has the lowest rate of vacant shops in the Borough.
Let’s hope that the change of decade will bring better prosperity to all. You can be assured that your local Councillors will be doing their level best to help. Hopefully, we can all show our pride in our own villages and town by support them all year round.
