Stockport Conservative Group Pledges to Stockport Residents
We will:
ü Invest in Stockport’s young people by opening selected youth centres for an additional evening each week and supplying more field based Youth Workers.
ü Start re-financing the School Music Service, with additional grants for instruments and tuition, particularly in deprived areas.
ü Provide support to Stockport’s “Signpost” programme for young carers
ü Invest in Stockport’s future prosperity by setting up a Young Entrepreneurs’ Conference.
ü Support the Police by funding additional PCSOs
ü Take action to ensure all Stockport’s streets are clean
ü Provide more litters bins and implement a zero tolerance approach to dog fouling
ü Accelerate the programme for road and pavement maintenance
ü Strongly oppose congestion charging
ü Introduce recycling for plastics and cardboard
ü Restore funding support for over 60s adult education classes
ü Provide additional support for adult employment and retraining
ü Lobby the Government for fair funding for Special Educational Needs and Adult Home Care
ü Lower Council Tax bills while protecting frontline services by cutting Council waste and perks
ü Stop waste by cutting back on Communications and Marketing, which is currently costing Stockport Council Tax Payers £1.2 million per year.
ü Improve service levels to Stockport residents by delivering efficient and effective, value for money services.
