Every New Year brings hope of better times to come and of fresh plans made.  It is the same in politics as the opposition looks forward in anticipation to the May Local Elections, and to the near future, towards the general Election.

With that in mind the Conservatives have just appointed a new Parliamentary Candidate for the Hazel Grove constituency in Mr Annesley Abercorn.  We are delighted to have secured the nomination of such an exceptional young candidate who already has a number of years of parliamentary experience working in the office of the senior Conservative politician Oliver Letwin MP.

Annesley will be making his home in Hazel Grove and he will soon be working in tandem with Ben Jeffreys the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Cheadle who has made such a big impact himself in the months since his selection.

We are really excited that we have two young enthusiastic and highly competent local Parliamentary Candidates who have energy and a real vision to serve the community.  They are the future and the general election cannot come too quickly for us.

Annesely has been touring the constituency during the last week and has been heartened by the warm welcome he has received everywhere and the expressions of support for a real change in Hazel Grove. Local people have been telling him about their problems and have welcomed the fact that it will at last be possible to elect a Conservative MP who will be able to influence Government for the benefit of Hazel Grove and Stockport as a whole.

The sad facts are that for a number of years Stockport has been poorly served by the Liberal Democrats who as a minority party in Parliament have simply never had the clout to influence the Government and get the real changes made that Stockport needs.  Two successful young local Conservative MP’s at the next election will be there to work alongside each other and with a Conservative Government for the benefit of Stockport - that is exactly what Stockport needs to start to move forward again.

David Cameron, the Conservative Party Leader, spoke recently about the need to empower local communities, invigorate them and provide them with fresh hope.  His message is being welcomed in more and more communities up and down the land. It is our job as Conservatives in Stockport to work hard for you and  to make this shared vision a reality in our own town. Your vote will help us all throw off the yoke of the many leaflets, but no real policies or parliamentary influence, Liberal Democrats.
